Calculator questions

Common questions about this estimate

Why does the calculator value family caregiving time?

Family caregiving often has real costs through missed work, travel, exhaustion, and lost flexibility. Showing that value makes the home care comparison more complete.

Are the wage choices exact local wage data?

No. Minimum wage and local average wage are simple planning defaults. The custom rate field is the best place to enter a local wage, missed-work value, or family-agreed value.

Does home care always cost less than assisted living?

Not always. Home care may cost less at low hours, but the comparison changes when paid hours, overnight supervision, respite, home changes, and family caregiving time are included.

One step at a time

You do not have to solve the whole care decision today.

A useful next step may be as small as replacing one estimate with a real quote, naming one family concern out loud, or asking the right professional one clear question.
